We want therapy to feel clear and manageable. Summer Tree Therapy is not an in-network provider, and payment is made directly at the time of services via Ivy Pay smart-phone app.
Some clients pursue partial reimbursement from their out of network insurance (OON) by utilizing Thrizer, which is a service that files and tracks out-of-network claims for you. With Thrizer, your insurance can send reimbursement directly to you depending on your plan, deductible, and OON behavioral health rates. Thrizer can help you confirm your OON plan details via [https://www.thrizer.com/for-clients].
This hybrid approach means you get the flexibility of direct pay with the support of your insurance benefits—so we can both focus on your healing, not insurance paperwork.
Approach
Laney Bassham’s approach to therapy centers on you, the client, as the expert of your own life. We aim to equip you with practical tools and insights, encourage your inherent strengths and resilience, and provide ongoing support as you navigate your unique path toward greater well-being and growth.
Therapy Techniques
-
Trauma-informed therapy recognizes the living legacy of past experiences on a person’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Rather than asking 'What’s wrong with you?' we explore 'What happened to you & how did you adapt?'—creating a safe, compassionate space for healing. By integrating evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR (See below), parts based therapy like Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), somatic therapy, polyvagal theory and NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM), I help clients connect and attune to themself, which rebuilds internal trust for processing pain, and carrying that forward into relationships and experiences with greater agency, resilience and understanding.
-
EMDR is a evidenced based technique developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro that utilizes bilateral stimulation via eye movement, alternative audio &/or alternating tactile stimulation which mimics REM sleep. In REM sleep the brain processes emotional/somatic memory into historic cognitive memory. With traumatic stress an excessive load of emotional/somatic memory cannot be processed. This backlog of thoughts, feeling, body sensation, memories and representative images continue to disrupt sleep and intrude on your daily life keeping you stuck as if you are still living in the experience you survived.
Through EMDR, we bypass traditional talk therapy - which is primarily cognitive brain - to help your brain “go where it needs to go” among neuropathways related to that prior experience to desensitize and reprocess the nervous system's wiring to recognize "that was then, and this is now”.

Research supports that having a belief, faith or trust in something greater than ourselves has a prominent role in mental health and wellness. Laney Bassham's religious faith and personal spirituality aligns with a Protestant Christian, Bible based world view.
By client indication or request, Christian principles, practices, Biblical concepts and scripture are integrated into sessions and evidenced based mental health support.
If you do not claim belief and faith in Christ or have experienced religious abuse and not wanting faith based therapy, evidence based, trauma informed care is still available to you here.
