  • Trauma-informed care recognizes the deep impact of past experiences on a person’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Rather than asking 'What’s wrong with you?' we explore 'What happened to you?'—creating a safe, compassionate space for healing. By integrating evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR (See below), parts based therapy like Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and somatic therapy, I help clients rebuild trust, process pain, and move forward with greater resilience and self-understanding.

  • EMDR is a evidenced based technique developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro that utilizes bilateral stimulation via eye movement, alternative audio &/or alternating tactile stimulation to mimick REM sleep. In REM sleep the brain processes emotional memory to historic cognitive memory but with traumatic stress an excessive load of emotional memory cannot be processed. This backlog of thoughts, feeling, body sensation, memories and representative images continue to disrupt sleep and intrude on your daily life as if you are still living and experiencing the initial event or series of events. Through EMDR, we bypass traditional talk therapy to help your brain focus on specific neuropathways related to that prior experience in order to desensitize and reprocess the nervous system's wiring to recognize "that was then, and this is now."

  • Research supports that having a belief, faith or trust in something greater than ourselves has a prominent role in mental health and wellness. Laney Bassham's personal faith and spirituality aligns with a protestant, Biblical world view. By client request, Christian principles, practices, Biblical concepts and scripture are integrated into sessions and evidenced base mental health support.
